Happy new year 2010

Hi All – It has been very long since I was on the blog. I was not so busy hence I guess I was just being too lazy 🙂

It is time for me to get back in the think of things and here I am back once again.  Before I get down to technical stuff, I am going to dedicate this post to talk about a few things that I have been upto.

Adobe Flex: Flex has been on and off for me. I have spent not a lot, but significant time to make enhance my knowledge on Flex. However, I am still limited to Flex 3.x Not got a chance to go to 4.x. This should happen very soon. Meanwhile, I was focused on some of the server side things – especially integration with Java. Adobe’s LCDS especially the Java NIO has been a key area of interest to me. It provides significant improvements to the flex clients. I have spent enough time on the client and server to figure out an alternative – all of that is research, no paper – POC is WIP.

Java: On the side too, a lot of time and effort has been spent in performance of the applications working with tools like Visual VM, IBM heap analyzer, JProfiler, NeoLoad. In addition to performance, I spent time to improve debugging capabilities in an application working with log4j, AspectJ to get a tool up in place providing additional debugging capabilities.

Personal Font: This is where I made the most progress. My daughter just turned 2 and she has been keeping me busy for the most part of my time at home. I gt back to reading – just finished the first one “The Atlantis Code” by Charled Brokaw; and currently I am reading “Northern Lights” by Phillip Pullman. It has been a good to be back reading. Even got some of my old books out. In addition, I got to use my PSP which has been accumulating dust over a long period of time. Bought new games – NBA Line 10 and FIFA 10 and have been playing them a lot mostly when I am traveling.

I have started to indulge and spoil myself by purchasing a Sedan (Hyundai Verna) and recently a Sony Camcorder HDR-CX150E and using it on my nephews’ first birthday.

2009 was a little slow and lack luster, but 2010 is picking up pace… Keep tuned.
